Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.

Why attend these sessions?

There are lots of athletes who want to use their platform to have a positive climate impact. But it can be hard to feel confident speaking up when climate change is such a huge and complex area.

That's why we teamed up with expert climate educators AimHi Earth to create a climate session tailored to athletes.

What the course delivers

Climate education delivered by experts

Get to grips with key climate and nature concepts, improve confidence in communicating these to everyone and feel empowered to make positive change.

AimHi Earth is at the forefront of delivering climate education. They've brought together top-level scientists, educators, behavioural psychologists and expert communicators to create an empowering and solutions-focused climate and sustainabilty leadership course.

We've already delivered the athlete session to Team GB Olympians and Paralympians in the run-up to the Tokyo Games, BBC Sports presenters and commentators, and athletes ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Content tailored to athletes

Find out why sport is such a powerful way of making change, what sport is and should be doing to make a difference, and the specific actions athletes can take to play our part too.

We've added our experience as athletes ourselves, and our time working with athletes on climate projects, to make sure the sessions meet you where you are and are set up to answer your questions about what athletes can do for the planet.

What's covered

As well as sport-specific insights, this one-hour session will include the following topics:

  • Global heating and CO2 levels
  • Key climate concepts like tipping points, net-zero, and feedback loops
  • Role models (and why athletes are so important in this)
  • Human psychology and perception
  • What YOU can do (personal action vs systematic change, communicating with impact, sharing ideas)
  • Our simplest solutions

The start of a community

We achieve most when we come together.

These interactive sessions help those attending to feel that they are part of something beyond themselves, and not alone in facing this challenge.
